Great beer and food, but the beer is pricey. Nice atmosphere.

This place is my favorite beer place in the Tampa Bay area. I love to try new beers and especially appreciate it when it's done with the love and appreciation of the art of beer brewing. Not every beer that Franz makes hits my taste buds in the right spot, but that's the beauty of it. Some of them, especially the Fisher Hefe Weizen in it's seasonal variations, is just fantastic. Some of the beers he makes and let's you taste are made just to proof a point or to let you taste what beer tasted like a long time ago. The Lagerhaus is not a gourmet restaurant but a honest beer place where you meet some great people and where you can get some good food to complement the tasty beers.

I am not a regular here but stop in once or twice a month. I don't t like domestic beers and come here for the local and European brews as well as the special Franz beers. I have not been disappointed with the brews and some not are for me. But they give you free samples to see what you'll like. Food is pub fare and is average to good but not as bad as some have written. The service also is average to good and the owner is typically in house. My advise is give it a try and for local in house beer you can't go wrong!

In a word: phenomenal. I don't need to say more, but I will. This place is truely a gem. We spent our new years here while on vacation and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A unique and authentic glass for each (incredible) brew, and really good food. Even for a vegetarian!...my boyfriend loved his schnitzel dish and my kase spaetzle was great! At midnight the enthusiastic owner decapitated champagne bottles! Great fun! As a sidenote, yelp miscategorizes this as German. It is Austrian.

Sorry Lagerhaus, we were really excited to try your place only to be extremely disappointed. My fiance and I were on a 2 week vacation in the area and had never been here but decided to drop in because of the good reviews. We are huge beer and brewery fans and frequent them wherever we travel so we have a lot of experience in other breweries to base my review on. Though Lagerhaus is a brewery and apparently brews their own beer it's very hard to tell. The boast about 40 beers on tap but when they give you the beer menu it's confusing and no where on the menu does it say anything about which ones they actually brew. Most breweries only carry their beer, so this was a nice touch but I think it really takes away from them boasting their own beer. Though we liked the selection off beers on tap we came here to try their beers and weren't able to do that because we didn't know which ones they made. Usually we would ask but we didn't get a chance with our hurried and flustered bartender/waitress. Service was below average. We sat at the bar and only heard our waitress/bartender very unprofessionally complain about other employees. The food was simply not good to us. For what we paid it was even more of a put off. We don't eat at chain restaurants so we always have high expectations of places like this that have homemade, made to order food and it didn't meet our expectations. After our yummy appetizer of cheese bread, which I will say was good and homemade we were excited to get the homemade brat sampler and a ham, pineapple, avocado pizza (one of their creations). Their homemade brats have apparently won awards but we did not like them. Now we get home made brats all the time from several local meat markets in our area and are always happy with the fresh taste but something in these brats was not good. It was almost a taste of dirt, even in the cheese brats we had. We each took one bite of each of the 4 they had to sample and threw the rest away they were that bad. They tasted nothing like brats and we couldn't choke them down. They just left a fowl taste in our mouths. I don't know if we got an old batch or something, but they were not award winning according to our palates. The pizza a Hawaiian style with a twist boasted avocado but when it came there were about 4 tiny chunks of avocado that had been cooked with the pizza and turned brown and were very non appetizing looking and also did not taste good because they had been cooked. Though the pizza might have been OK if the avocado wasn't on there, or if it was put on after the pizza was cooked, it still didn't impress for a home made pizza. You can see past reviews and see that I order pizza at the non chain places I go and this pizza was not up to par. The only way I would recommend this place is if you lived around the corner and could walk here for a night out of drinking beer. I would avoid the food here and the hope for better service then what we received.

Good German beer and food, and a relaxed crowd of people make the perfect atmosphere. I enjoy going here for an after-work beer.

Very nice new addition in the Eastlake Woodlands area between Oldsmar and Palm Harbor. This brew pub is located in the space that used to belong to Hoppers. The proprietor Franz used to be the brewmaster for the Hoppers chain, but he does not (yet) have his brew equipment running. Still, they have a very good guest beer selection. This is the only place I've ever had sauerkraut in the United States that is done properly (which means it tastes good and not the junk you often find). The pork wild wings are fantastic and the pizza can be as well... the crust may be the best in the area. I expect this place to get even better with time and the addition of beers brewed on site.

Outstanding service, outstanding beers, outstanding food! This place is truly one of a kind and absolutely incredible! Our table had a variety of food: sausages, pizza, burgers, kids meals...and all of it was amazing! The pizza was the best I've ever tasted, which surprised me since it's not a pizza place. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. The beer was the best we've tried, and I'm not a real beer drinker. Highly recommend it. The food takes a while to come only because it's homemade and not microwaved or flash frozen. Worth every second of the wait! Go!!!

We are getting ready for a trip to Germany and wanting to preview some German food -- mission accomplished. Lagerhaus is a typical small restaurant in a strip mall -- not much to look at. The service, however, was very attentive and friendly. Lagerhaus is an actual brewery, and they have several varieties of German microbrews. I ordered a Radler, which is a 50/50 mix of Lemonade and a Pilsner. Great summer drink. The menu has a lot of German food, as well as some bar food staples like pizza and nachos. I ordered a half-order of weiner schnitzel, which was still pretty big. The fried bacon-wrapped pretzels were also an interesting starter. All in all, a large group of us really enjoyed our meal. This is an interesting place and we will be back to explore more of the beers and more of the menu.

It just didn't hit our expectations for some decent German food and a tasty beer. There were about 7-8 beers listed on the menu, and when I asked if my selection was comparable to Guinness, the waiter said, "Oh, I don't know. (silence....) Are you ready to order?" I ordered the stout, it arrived in a small wine glass, tasted muddy and cost twice as much as it should. Our two appetizers came very quickly. The Bier Pretzel was freshly thawed, no crust or chew and was tasteless. The Pork Wings were three sizeable pork ribs that were okay, but were screaming for attention or seasoning. Our three entres were served in large portions, were fresh and prepared with care, but, again, seasonings weren't considered for any of the three. Our guest had two large Pork Sausages, my wife had the Naturschnitzel (broiled thin unbreaded pork), and my Jagerschnitzel (fried thin breaded pork with mushroom gravy) all were okay, but a shake of this or that, a tangy sauce, or a zesty something would have helped. Our side dishes of Hot German Potato Salad (served cool with no hint of the vinegar tang that is the reason anyone orders the dish) and Spaetzles (dumpling/noodles) were enough to make my ancestors pretty upset. I'm not a tightwad, but like most, I bristle at a high tab for mediocre fare. I'm still gnashing my teeth on this one.

I wasn't impressed during my recent visit here. Our service was very rushed and wasn't friendly. We sat inside initially and then wanted to go outside later on. They didn't have a system for following your tab outside to the bier garden, which plain didn't make any sense. We ordered a pretzel and I found it to be overcooked and dry. I steered clear of ordering other food after that. The beer is quality though. I enjoyed the house Hefeweizen. However, I found the prices to be too high at 6.75 per beer. Several breweries offer better quality beers at a much lower price. Overall, I wasn't happy with my experience here. It's a place I'd go to if I was passing by and in the mood for a Hefeweizen, but that's about it.

FINALLY found a place in the Bay area for a good Wienerschnitzel! Ever since our trip to Austria some 2 years ago, me and the misses have been on a hunt for good schnitzel. We have tried a few places but either the portions were a little on the small side or the texture of the schnitzel itself was just tough. Alas our wishes have finally just come true. Ladies & gentlemen meet our newest place to finally satisfy our schnitzel fixes! We were immediately greeted by the hostess who was very nice and quickly seated us. the place was packed with local patrons which made the energy and vibe really cool. plus they even brew their own beer here & have a nice little outdoor biergarten in the back! With over 20 selections on tap, you have plenty of beer options to choose from. Very happy to see Radler on the menu (Beer & lemonade mix) which adds to the authenticity of this German bar! Great happy hour 2 for 1 M-F from 6pm-8pm on tap beers, including IPA'S!. I even saw a few glass boots behind the bar so if you feeling in the drinking mood you have the option of ordering your beer in a glass stein or a boot! And now the schnitzel .... They have two selections to choose from: (1) the Wienerschnitzel (breaded deep fried pork cutlet) & the (2) jagerschnitzel (covered in mushroom sauce). When my dish came out i was like WOW. When i saw that the schnitzel covered 3/4's of the plate i knew i was in for a treat! Usually the previous places the schnitzel was only about half of the plate so you could only imagine my happiness! The schnitzel itself had a very nice and crisp texture and had a crunch after every bite. I tasted my friends Jagerschnitzel and although the sauce was good i prefer my schnitzel with out sauce. Both entries came with a choice of a house salad + side dish or 2 side dishes. I ordered a side of the french fries (nothing too special here) & a side of the Kaese Spaetzle (Austrian mac & cheese). The Spaetzle was very cheesey & I loved playing with the strands of melted cheese coming off the fork ha! The misses ordered the Lager Bratz which i thought tasted good but was a little on the dry side. It did come with 2 huge sausage links & we ordered a side of the Austrian potato salad which made this dish worth the price paid. They also had a bacon pretzel which we ordered on a previous visit. The pretzel was good and the bacon was a nice touch. I wish they had more bacon on the pretzel but maybe thats a good thing for the sake of my arteries. The garlic cheese fries were really good but better make sure to carry breath mints with you lol! If you want a taste of Austria come by and order the schnitzel. I guarantee you will love this dish!

Let me start by saying the food was delicious. I had absolutely no problem at all with that. I've been several times to the Lagerhaus in the past and I've always enjoyed my dining experience, however tonight was ... different? I came in alone, the husbeast was busy with preparation for our Vegas trip, so I got to catch dinner on the fly. I spun Yelp and came up with this as a destination, and since I hadn't done a review, I was especially happy! When I entered, I was greeted by the hostess and let her know there would be just me "We can do that." and she drew me back to a table with a singular seat - it happened to be at a corner of the wall, just in front of a LARGE party table. She told the waitress serving that table that she had me as well. The waitress looked... -thrilled- (sarcasm). I was greeted with no eye contact, no smile. Asked what I wanted to drink, and when it contained no alcohol, the contempt was clearly there. Unsweet Iced tea was ordered and brought to my table, and I was asked if I wanted to place my order. Weinerschnitzel, with a Caeser Salad & Grilled Vegetables. With a nod she went and took it to the chef. My menu was never taken away. It stayed on my table until the very end of my meal. At some point before my food came to the table, I managed to get her attention, I asked for some Sweet & Low. Rather than tell me they didn't carry that and offer me splenda (I'm allergic to it) she reached behind me, to another table - one that had a full set up - something mine lacked (No salt/pepper, etc) and plopped it down in front of me, no words, nothing. Color me unimpressed. The food was run out by other waitstaff. And mind you, I got my salad with the Entree and side. Something that hasn't happened with my service in the past. I'm used to getting the salad before I get the main course. When the food was delivered, I needed salt. Rather than flag her down -again- I turned around, and I saw it. She was kabitzing with the table behind me, Has been the entire time. They are a large party of 8. I see that she is enjoying their food with them, sharing in their conversation and everything. And that's FINE, if you don't have other people to attend. I made eye contact when I got the salt briefly before sitting down. She came back over about 10 minutes later, and with a lifeless voice -told me- "Evertyings good." And before I could answer, she walked away. It was about then that I was mostly done. Half of my dinner remained, I was sitting with my back against the wall, my phone in my hands, avidly NOT paying attention to my food, and trying to catch her eye as she passed by me 3 or 4 times. She had to pass me, because the Computer to input orders was right around the corner. Finally another waitress saw the posture and asked if I needed a box, and I said yes, "And my check." The box was given as was my check, handed to me by "my" waitress. When I received it, I did something I don't ever do, You see, I work in the service industry, Tips are important, but they have to be earned. I tipped, but ultra low. Clearly she didn't care about her service level to me, so I didn't care about my tip level to her, and noted it on the bill as well. I hate that I had to drop the review by a star because of this kind of service, because the food was Delicious! Their schnitzel was great, the vegi's were tasty and the salad... well it was salad! But poor service is poor service and attitude is everytihing. I'm sorry if she was having a bad day, and if a singular person who isn't going to be a burden to you is the final straw... but it pays to pay attention.

Why 5 stars? Because how did I not know this place existed?! --- --- --- With 2 years under my belt as the Yelp CM, and another 2-3 years of being a hardcore lurker, I did not think it was possible for me to not even know about a place like this. I hadn't even heard of it! Thank Yelper Johnny C for the intro to this gem. I was only drinking during this trip, but will definitely be back to try the German food, which would have definitely been consumed if I was even remotely hungry. I sampled the regular hefeweizen, the kumquat hefeweizen, and a couple others that I can't even remember the name of. One was like a hersta-dunkel or something. I think it was three kinds of beer in one, and it ROCKED! I also tried the strongest beer I've ever had... I think it was 22%. I was expecting it to taste like Everclear, but it was actually pleasant. I could drink two of them. I'd be totally chocolate wasted, but I could do it. I've only been once, and tried 6 beers... but in my opinion, Lagerhaus is home to possibly the best beer in Tampa Bay. Yes... the best.

Popped in late one night to find a drum circle banging on the drums outside. We opted to go inside and were only going to have drinks but the pizza looked so awesome we ordered... Ahmazing! Great crust, fresh ingredients and fast friendly service. Found a true gem and will be back for more

This is the best brewed beer next to heading over to Germany. The owners are great people and the place is great for beer and out if this world food. I just can't get enough of this place. If you like German beer and such. This is a must do in the Tampa Bay Area.., Das Good!!

If you like authentic German food this is a great spot for that, and a bonus is that they make their own beer. I ordered the jagerschnitzel with mushroom sauce and spetzl with cheese. The pork was very tender and lightly battered and the mushroom sauce was very tasty and worked well together. The spetzl with cheese was like a potato-y Mac and cheese and was slaps delicious! I can eat a whole bowl of that. My drink of choice for the night was the Wildberry Imperial Lambic. It was really good and at 12% it did the job with just 1 cup. The service was a little slow but It was a full house with 1 server but when she did make her way to our table she was fun, engaged and very helpful. The happy hour is definitely worth making a stop for, they offer 2-4-1 liters. Enjoy!

5 stars for cool beers, 1 star for German food. Their beer selection and in-house brews just make ya want to drink more and try em' all! Most of the people there were drinking, not eating, and now I know why. Perhaps we ordered the wrong food or were there on a bad night, but we were not at all impressed with the food. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel with spaetzl - absolutely huge portion (size of entire large plate) of schnitzel (dry, bland, and a little tough) covered in a cream sauce with mushrooms (reminded me a Campbell's cream of mushroom soup with some wine added - blech). The spaetzl was nothing special and a little rubbery. BF ordered the homemade sausages (1 pork, 1 chicken) with hot German potato salad - sausages were soooooooo dry it was hard to eat and potato salad was like boiled potatoes in pickle juice - blech. Both entrees were pricy ($16 for schnitzel, $12 for 2 sausages). Server was super friendly and interior is inviting and pleasant.

I like this place A LOT! They make their own beer, I've had their catfish IPA and sampled some of their other beers but the IPA is my favorite. Had their Kaese Spaetzl (Austrian mac and cheese) and it was sooooo creamy and rich, of course it goes great with beer! Baked pretzels are pretty standard along with some of their other appetizers (fried calamari, mozzarella sticks) They have $3 beer specials that I think they switch up here and there. Last time I went they had Stella for $3! Not PBR!? *gasp* Service is super friendly too. Please check it out!

Serous beer specials! With the craft brew boom, this is a good joint for a unique beer. The staff is really nice and they know their stuff. They'll know your name and favorite brew in no time. They've got a huge menu, and might I recommend their pizza? So good!

Only local place where your can get a jagerschnitzle. If you are German, I apologize if I butchered the spelling of that dish. Suffice it to say that if you are German or have been there, you know what I am talking about. An amazing traditional German dish that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The beer selection is quite good as well.

So disappointed. I have had Lagerhaus on my "must try" list for awhile now. I have seen a few good reviews from friends that I trusted and I love German Food. We just returned from a trip to Lagerhaus and we will probably not be back. Lets start with the beer. They are supposed to have 40 beers on draft. They only had maybe 18-20. The beers that we were hoping to try based off of their website were unavailable. So, we went with the Madame Pompadour and a Tangerine beer (I believe it was a Hefeweizen, but it is not listed online or anywhere I can find to verify). The beer was very good. My Husband even ordered a second glass of the Madame Pompadour because he liked it so much. For an appetizer we ordered a bacon wrapped pretzel. For over $5, I expected the pretzel to be fully wrapped in bacon. It had three pieces of bacon wrapped around in three different spots. It was mostly pretzel. Bummer. It was still good, but not worth the money. Next came our meals. I order the Jagerschnitzel based off of Gigi's picture and Mark's reviews. My Husband ordered the sausage sampler with one of each type of sausage and a second chicken chipotle sausage We both ordered the cheesy spaetzle as a side. The portions were HUGE. Unfortunately, they were also dry, bland, overcooked and in some cases just plain gross. The Jagerschnitzel did not resemble the Jagerschnitzel that my buddy Gigi ordered AT ALL. I don't know if they changed the recipe or what. My gravy was dark brown and really weird. It was tough to choke down at first and then it became more and more disgusting with each bite. The schnitzel itself was TOUGH. I struggled to cut it with the steak knife I was given. The batter was bad and lacked seasoning. Awful, awful dish. The spaetzle was palatable and just tasted bland. It was a little better once I dumped salt and pepper on it. It had a ton of cheese, but unfortunately you couldn't taste it because the cheese was so mild. My Husbands sausage was extremely dry and bland. It was so dry that he bought most of it home for our dog. This is the first time he has ever not finished a supposedly homemade sausage. He said it was like there was no fat at all in the mixture. They were gross. Then our bill came. $60? Our beers were apparently $7 each. Our awful meals were $16 each. Our pretzel was $5. We could have easily had dinner at a nice restaurant for the $70+ (with tip) that we dropped at this place. We left feeling disgusted, ripped off and promising not to ever eat here again. I think at this point, even the beer during the specials with not get us back through that door. The 2 stars are for the beer alone....

Recently stopped in here as my husband and I are trying to visit every brewery in the Tampa Bay Area. They had a decent selection of craft beer and they had about 6 beers that were brewed by the brewery. The beer was pretty good, they had some beers on there that were coming soon that we would really like to try. The bartender was very nice and knowledgable of the beers on draft. We ordered the bacon wrapped pretzel which was delicious. The pretzel dough was light and airy, not heavy and think as most pretzels are. They have a 2-4-1 happy hour Monday's-Friday's til 6pm which is a really great deal. I definitely would go back here to eat more German/Austrian selection of food and try more of their brewed beers.

FYI the check in reward does not work. The manager seemed pretty annoyed when I tried to use it. The food was good, the spatzel was great. I was disappointed that there was no potato pancakes. I will definitely be going back.

Lagerhaus is where it's at! I stopped in the other day for some beers with my husband and I gotta say that I really enjoy their selection. I'm a Hefeweissen fan, so the fruity Hefeweissens are exciting to me! The staff is friendly and quick to assist and it is a laid back atmosphere. The bacon wrapped fried pretzel is incredible. It is really such a great appetizer and the cheese sauce that comes with it is divine! I wish I lived closer, but now that I'm a member of the Lagerhausers club, I will make sure to stop in more often.

Lagerhaus is my favorite brewery and German/Austrian establishment. It's the Cheer,s of palm Harbor. Franz is a master brewmaster! Great beer's, great German/ Austrian food and great hospitality. You must give it a try!

Where everyone knows your name.... Lagerhaus is a great neighborhood pub that serves yummy food and delicious beer and wine. My favorites are cheese spaetzle, wiener schnitzel, pizza, wings, and to drink Lambic, Madame Pompadour, and I can't forget Franz's very special Magnum 44. :).

I had a chicken Caesar salad and it was delicious made with romain and not crappy iceberg lettuce, my husband had the sausage sampler which he enjoyed. We also had a beer flight which was lovely and tasted all of the lighter hefe brews which we really really where impressed by. I enjoyed the wild-berry sour the best which the waitress recommended. Also the waitress was very friendly, poorly dressed, but friendly. My husband and I liked the beer and food quite a lot.

50% off ale doesn't work anymore and wasn't honored. Food was good but they should know how to remove coupon or give it to customer if you don't know how. 5 stars for food however since I couldn't even get the coupon that's why the 3.

Gotta go 4 stars here for Lagerhaus because this place is pretty solid. These guys brew up their own suds AND server authentic German food. Don't like German food? No problem because they have pizza, nacho, burgers and anything else you'd want from a bar. La Chica and I love some German grub, so we ordered up the Jagerschnitzel at the suggestion of our bartender, Derrek. He said, "Well if you're going to try the schnitzel, then you've got to do the Jagerschnitzel because it's topped with a white mushroom sauce." Sold and sold! Got the cheese spatzel and kraut on the side, and what! It was delicioooouuuuussss! See Gigi S.'s pic for the proof. So glad we discovered these guys at the Yelp Around the World event. Couldn't believe they were only a few miles away and we had never heard of it. Don't know when we will return, but it won't be soon enough.

The owner replied my review was "unprofessional, mean spirited and wrong". My reply: 1) Yelp is not intended to be used by professional reviewers, so thank you. 2) I didn't attack anyone personally 3) They are my opinions. By definition they cannot be "wrong". Maybe instead of attacking your patrons and being defensive (there are several questioning the quality of food), take the criticism to heart and try to improve your restaurant. I guess it's easier to personally attack my knowledge of German food rather than improve your own. ______________________________________________________________ Half the draft beer items blacked out in marker. Better days gone by I guess. Asked if they had red cabbage as it wasn't on menu. No, they said. Hold your breath waiting for us to add to menu. In short, this place has more nacho and pizza choices than German dishes. Tried to find authentic German fare, but couldn't get past the "German Mac and Cheese" Spaetzle. If you're of German decent, and appreciate authentic German food, please go elsewhere. Having German signs and banners doesn't make you a German restaurant any more than wearing an eye patch makes you a pirate.

Been here many, many times, and would have given them 5-stars and never looked back. Over the pass year I have found my new love of breweries, from the likes of Dunedin and 7venth Sun Brewery, which have become my go to for great beer. The majority of the beer on hand at Lagerhaus isn't their own brewed beer. So all the memory of the food I've had here is great, but I am usually eating after 2 to 3 beers. I think my memories of 5-star food, might of have been skewed by something my girlfriend and I like to call "drunk noms." The most recent time we went the beer cheese wasn't what I remembered and much thicker than usual. My girlfriend and I went German, seeing that this place is owned by Germans, and as much as it pains me to says this it was OK. And looking back on my past visits, it was all just OK.

Hospitality industry workers receive 20% off bill (proof of employment required) Wednesday Medical Professional Night. Medical Professionals receive 20% off bill (proof of employment or ID required) Surprisingly bad food Homemade brats were very dry and disappointing Hoping it was just an off night Wouldn't plan on eating there but enjoyed the atmosphere I hear Charles Bukowski sometimes drinks here

As a somewhat recent transplant to the SunCoast, I've been in search of restaurants with good food, good beer and good service! At the Lager Haus, I found them all! Whether it's for lunch or dinner, I have found that the food is always well prepared and cheerfully presented. And, the beers are amazing! I learned about authentic German/Austrian cuisine years ago at a very reputable spot in Philadelphia called the Schwartzwald Inn. Over the years, I never found anything as good until my first few visits to the Lager Haus to sample the Weinerschnitzel and various bratwursts. They were obviously very, very good. But, the best of all is Lager Haus' amazingly delicious Backhuhn! Backhuhn comes as an appetizer or full dinner. It is comprised of a chicken breast, a thigh and a drumstick that are breaded in such a way that the meat's tender, succulent flavor and moisture is encased in the breading until the moment of your first rewarding bite! Then, it's a real mouth party! This, folks, is an absolute winner . . . as are the other great German/Austrian items on the menu. Wash down the Backhuhn with one of several beers brewed on site. The Royal Bohemian Pilsner, a Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal Winner, or a Fischer Hefeweizen are my current favorites! Good food! Good Beer! Good Service! That's a natural Hat Trick in my book! Prost!

How to rate Lager Haus? I've gone a few times a year for a few years now. The food is consistently 5/5 stars, solid. The beer is 5/5 and if you want a taste they actually pour you enough to taste more than a sip. I'm giving the restaurant as a whole 4 stars because the service is continually slow, disorganized and frequently gets orders incorrect. I mean slow. The service really gets a 2 and the food and beer pull it up to a 4. Franz, train your staff better! If my last few experiences here happened to be my first I wouldn't go back. Every bad review on here states the same and eventually it's going to drive me and others away.

I ordered the Laugerhays Brat and Austrian Potatoe Salad. The potatoes were undercooked and crunchy (the texture of a cumber) and the brats were pink in the middle all the way through. They tried explaining to me that the brats are cooked twice; once boiled in a beer and then grilled before serving. Then why were husband's brat cooked all the way through - Curried Brats (served sliced)? When I told the waitress about the disappointing potato salad I asked for coleslaw instead; unfortunately this slaw was so rancid I had to spit it out in my napkin. My husband's wheat beer was good but the food was terrible.

We are so happy to be Lagerhausers and really enjoy trying new brews on Thursday. The expanded happy hour 2 for 1 is the best deal on craft beer we know of. then of course, you will need some hearty food to go with those brews and i can heartily recommend their spaetzle. i love spaetzle and lagerhaus makes some tasty versions that you can customize! Hubby really enjoyed the burger and fries. Everything seems made from scratch. Once, we had the special that included an Alsatian [?] coleslaw that was out of this world. Since we go early, our server each time has been Sebastian, who has made us feel very much at home.

Franz is a genius of a brewmaster! His passion for creating great beers is always on display as each week he invites his Lagerhausers in for a free beer of his latest creation on Thursdays. Each time I've been greeted by Franz it's been with a huge hug and giant smile. It's an absolute must for folks who love beer!

Updating this review: Went for a second visit this weekend - there was a gulash special, which was yummy. Really enjoyed the Fischer Hefeweizen too. The staff were friendly as previously, but could have been more attentive, which is only reason I changed the stars on this review. I really like this place. I really like the beers. I would just like a tad more attention from the other side of the counter. :) ________________________________ I should probably try more food than just the wings before I write a review, but the brewed beers were very good. Was fortunate enough to be there with someone that knew the owner and we got our group got our own little private beer tasting. Service was quick. Food was hot and fresh. Was quite pleased with the heat on my wings. Don't think there was really a bad beer in the bunch. All I can remember is that the Magnum 44 is the best stuff ever. Hurry - somebody get me a growler of this stuff - stat!!

My hopes were that Lagerhaus was a hidden gem of a beer garden. Strange I thought to myself, I've lived here for years and never heard of this place. It's covertly tucked away behind a gas station in a strip mall. Was this a local secret to boot ranchers? Perhaps, they were trying to keep this place from outsiders...I glanced at the menu. A confusing read. It's almost as if someone had a problem aligning the columns and formatting in Microsoft word. We all know what that means and I should have known better, but visions of delicious ice cold beer and bar food tempted me. Those visions and hopes, would soon be seen with disappointment. When the food arrived, I felt I was the butt-end of a cruel joke. The nachos were soggy (possibly expired) chips with synthetic plasticesque cheese melted over them, then a drizzling of sour cream across the entire surface. Drizzled sour cream? WTF?! Strange...very strange. Not one to knock something until I try it, I took a bite, chewed, and was immediately in stowed with PTSD like flashbacks of Chuck E. Cheese's horrendous menu choices at the age of 11. Ahhh...here are the wings. I think?! Surely these will be good, it's 10 wings for 10 bucks. That's a bit steep for a strip-mall bar, they must have a reputation behind them. Well, apparently they do have a reputation behind them. Smallest wings ever. Actually, small would be an understatement, mini wings is more accurate. What a disappointment.

My husband and I go here every few months, but since we discovered their pizza, it may be more often. I would have never thought of them for pizza, but it is pretty good. Crisp crust, generous cheese and fresh basil on the cheese pizza. The first time I had it, I ordered garlic as a topping and that was a mistake. I could tell it was decent pizza, but something about the garlic on it was... off. Can't explain it. I'm a huge garlic lover and I put it in everything, but skip the extra garlic topping if you get this pizza. Other than that, it's a pretty good pizza. Reheats well in the toaster oven the next day too. My husband loves the beer. I prefer Miller Lite, light sours, which most places don't have, or lambics. They have lambics here and they are delicious, but VERY potent. Lots of TVs with sports going, but the times we have been (typically early Saturday night), it hasn't been overly loud and a conversation can be carried.

One of my favorite hot spots in the area for authentic German beer and food! The restaurant is very clean and the staff are very friendly. We typically sit at the bar for the experience, but there is ample seating through the restaurant if you'd prefer a table. They have many brewed-on-site beers. One of my all-time favorite menu items is the Brewmasters Pizza. It's a delicious pizza with buffalo chicken and egg on top. When I first read the menu description, I was honestly baffled at how atrocious the combination sounded. However like I said, it has become one of my favorites! The menu prices are reasonably moderate. Note that they have a 'Laugerhausers' club which gets you in to specified events throughout the month (they email you) and typically a free pint of beer of a new brew. They also have an Oktoberfest club where if you purchase the annual Oktoberfest glass (2013 price was $39) then for one year all pints are $8 instead of $12 for the purchaser.

Dry old food, cooked in a microwave. I had jaeger schnitzel, which was very large and dry, and the breading did not stick to the meat. The speatzle was gluey, like it had been cooked days ago and reheated upon my order. My husband had sausages, brats, also very dry and mealy. Beers were good, but I wouldn't recommend eating here. If you want good German food go to German bistro II, it is amazing, nothing like this place.

I visited Lagerhause Brewery today, and was thoroughly impressed with the brews, food, and service! We arrived prior to opening time, but we hesitated long enough for someone came to the door and let us in early. We sat at the bar, where Sebastian proceeded to give us small samples of beers, while entertaining us with stories and descriptions of each. We had fish tacos, one of the day's specials; they were the best fish tacos we'd ever tasted! I'm not sure what was up with some of the negative reviews about the service. We had a blast, and got to sample several delicious ales!! I can't wait to go back!!

Positives: excellent beer, very good food, excellent service, nice physical environment. This was the second time we went to Lagerhaus. This time we went with another couple. Both women in the two couples are German, and so very demanding when it comes to German food. I have been a home-brewer for 23 years, and so very demanding about beer. The beer was excellent. They have a huge selection, much of it brewed on premises. They have some interesting and unusual foreign beer too. The service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and polite, and brought everything out in a timely way. She offered samples of two beers when we weren't sure which to order. When I indicated that I liked a bit of garlic on my salad dressing, she brought out garlic powder, which I used on the rest of the meal. Excellent! The food was authentic, with the only complaint being that the schweine-haxn, done on a spit, should have been crunchier. I had a regular schnitzel, which was enormous and I thought I'd never finish it, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating, and finished it. The first time we went here we had the same impression: we really enjoyed it, which is why we went back. So they're also consistent.

They have a great selection of their own house beers but also have guest beers for those who are looking for something more main stream. We got a sampler of the house beers (after our waitress walked us through each one...very knowledgeable) and all of them were pretty decent .We had a couple of favorites and decided we'd try their beir bretzel while we sipped our drinks. Mmmmm the bier bretzel was soo delicious. Piping hot on the outside but when dipped in the beer cheese sauce, was just sooo good. We're looking forward to going there sometime for dinner.

Despite a few negative reviews, I really wanted to try Lagerhaus Brewery. I love beer, and if you read my other reviews, that's pretty obvious. So if the name includes the word "Lagerhaus" and "Brewery", it has my interest. I went for lunch on a Friday, and it was not crowded at all. Some other reviews mentioned getting the cold shoulder because they weren't regulars, and nobody explained the beers. I did not have this experience at all, and the bartender was totally awesome, really friendly, and she immediately explained which beers were made on-site, and even told me about the Royal Bohemian Pilsner which won a Gold Medal, beating out Sam Adams Boston Lager at the Great American Beer Festival. I ordered one up, and seriously, this was one of the best beers I have had in a long time. Very crisp, not bitter, smooth, and refreshing. I generally do not like a lot of German, Belgian, Polish, or Czech beers. There's just something about beers from that region that don't sit well with me. However, this beer was different, and well-crafted. I had to try the Bier Pretzel and it came out hot and buttery with a tasty bavarian mustard. It was melt-in-your-mouth tasty. For my meal I had the fish and chips, with were grouper fingers with pretty standard french fries. I wish more restaurants made the thick cut "chips" like they do in the UK, but still, the fries were hot and crispy, and they had the malt vinegar too, which I prefer over ketchup. The fish and chips were very good - maybe not the best ever, but good. No complaints. The atmosphere is very German, with German style beer mugs, decorations, and a fairly spacious seating area, including at the bar. There was one booth near the front with a bunch of office papers, folders, etc, with a "reserved" sign. I presume that is where the owner or manager does paperwork or other business. I always find that a little annoying, as that should be out of sight from customers in a back office. That's my only complaint. I didn't think this warranted bring it down to 4 stars, but I would probably do 4.5 stars if I could. Another note: they are only open for lunch Thursday through Sunday. Otherwise they open at 4:00 all other days.

I was so, so excited to try this place even though it's on the opposite side of the county and therefor a long drive for me to make - especially when I wanted to try a bunch of good German beer - but it fell rather flat in my opinion. Our service was good, but as the place filled up we noticed that our waitress was covering the ENTIRE bar and restaurant! Fine when there are only 4 people there (as it was when we arrived), but when there are 25 or so, it was getting to be hit or miss if you could grab her. She was very friendly though, and knowledgeable about the entire menu. The menu was so extensive though - it went on & on - I wondered how the kitchen could do any one thing really well. The beer selection was pretty good although the one advertised, that I really wanted to try - the Tangerine Weissen - was not available as it was "seasonal." Not how it was advertised... The Haufbrauhaus Dunkel that I tried did not taste as good as some I have had in the past. The Fischer was good though. When I first got there, I accidentally dropped a receipt from my purse onto the floor. When I reached down to pick it up, I wished I hadn't. The floors looked as if they hadn't seen a vacuum, broom or mop in WEEKS. It was so disgusting. The bathrooms weren't any better. One stall was "out of order" and the only other toilet seemed as though it hadn't seen bleach in it's life. And there was an inch of dust all over the toilet dispensers and towel holders. YuckYuckYuck. All of this didn't do much for my appetite because it makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like, but I forged on. I'd driven all that way, after all. I ordered the jagerschnitzel. Now there is thin jagerschnitzel that is thin and juicy and there is jagerschnitzel that has been pounded to hell and back and tastes like leather. Mine was the latter with the mushroom gravy on the side. The mushroom gravy in wine sauce was runny and bland, bland, bland. If I am ever back on that side of Pinellas, I might go back to try a few more beers, but I wouldn't order the food. Except for maybe the Bacon Bretzel that we had as an appetizer. The saving grace of this place as far as I am concerned.

The beer here is nothing short of good. I have been here a few times and have had so many of their brews. Oktoberfest, Many variations of hefeweizens, pilsners, etc... All have been good/great beers. The only reason I will knock off a star is the food has been meh. The Fried Calamari was way to rubbery. The sauce on the pizza tasted like it took no effort. I know I'm really picky when it comes to food so take that into consideration. Either way if you are a beer drinker this is place is a must-stop.

You wouldn't necessarily expect to find a brewery restaurant inside a strip mall, but that's where this place is! Lagerhaus has a great variety or brews produced onsite- quite a larger selection than you find at most brewpubs this size. Particularly impressive was how they've ventured into the world of lagers where many stick to ales. I tried the pilsner and one of the wheat beers and both were great. Now onto the food. I think it's really hit or miss depending on what you ordered. Their entrees sections mostly German inspired cuisine- wish they'd have more in depth descriptions listed as to exactly what's what for those of us who don't speak German. I don't remember what it was called, but I ended up with a huge piece of pork pounded really thin, breaded, and fried; covered with mushroom gravy. The pork was very tender, but the gravy was a little too much for my tastes. For my side dish I got spatzle with cheese- it was my first time having that... Reminded me of Mac and cheese, however, I echo the previous reviewer's observation that it was loaded with oil. I went through several napkins to degrease before eating. My friend got the Rosemary chicken- while the chicken was well cooked and very juicy, it looked to be seasoned with more salt and pepper than anything else. I'd have liked to see a sprig of Rosemary on top or cooked in. Overall, not bad, I will try something different to eat next time I go there, but the beer here is the real winner.

Franz's bier is alright. Luckily, there was some commercial beer available to drink. Service was very slow. While an extra wait staff or two would have been helpful, they certainly had no sense of urgency. Slow is how they work. The food is way overpriced for the quality. A basic hamburger rings in at $8.95. We ordered a grilled ham & cheese that was stripped down from the description to a basic grilled cheese with a couple slices of ham added. The menu described a 'herb-encrusted' bread topped with ham, 2 different cheeses, and fresh basil. We got plain white bread, mediocre cheese flavor, and no basil. The Kaese Spaetzl was bland. We expect it was reheated in the microwave as all of the cheese seemed to settle into the bottom of the cup and the pasta was mushy. The brat hoagie was alright. The sausage was dwarfed by the bun, luckily a nice compliment of sauteed red peppers and onion filled out the empty spaces. Still a bit pricey in my opinion. The french fries were very good, but you don't go to a place called Lagerhaus for french fries. Very underwhelming. The final insult was the suggested tip added to the bottom of the bill. They did all of the calculations on the post-tax total.

Good beer, bad service. No stout. Barrel just came in. I've been going here for a few years and it has always been the same. The homemade sausages are great but the service has always been beyond terrible. It's not just one server or barkeeper, but all of them. I never could understand it. So I went next door to Mixers where there was a nice crowd and friendly staff and a Stout on draft.

Good beer selection that doesn't brag about their beer select but just OK for a place that does. Unique beers are appreciated, so that was a winner for me here. The food was food, I was visiting somebody in the hospital so I could have been a little distracted. Frankly, this was just OK. RE the Haufbrau beers, they had some but not a good selection. I'm spoiled by the Haufbrau in Kentucky/Cincinnati. ...and that beer bloody mary thing, take it off the menu. The people there partying were what made me enjoy this place, 57th birthday party and they are doing shots with everybody! If this is the crowd they keep in here, I will come back and bump up the star rating. See you at your 58th Gary!

Good food. Bad service...can't handle a small crowd... dropped food on the floor... another 10 min for food to come..and brat was dry. 10 min for 1 beer wait time. Would not recommend.

I stopped by here last Friday because I'm new to town and the sign on the street said Oktoberfest Turn Here!!! In big electric letters. I figured this would be a great way to get some great beers and meet some new people in this town. Unfortunately the place was nearly empty and the bartender informed me that the sign was put out a day early and that the festival (and therefor Oktoberfest Specials) didn't actually start until the next day. Regardless of the mishap I liked Lagerhaus. The menu was a bit all over the place but the Reuben was standard pub fare and juicy enough to go along with the great to Hofbrau's I had. Fries were no good, I was expected pub cut or hand cut but instead I think they were frozen. Not big deal though as most restaurants do that. My only real complaint was the staff wasn't exactly friendly. They weren't mean, but they just sort of ignored everyone. Well, everyone except the friendly German speaking fellow next to me. He got all sorts of attention because he spoke German, but everyone else got short glances and refills without much speaking but nothing really beyond that. I could understand if the place were packed, but when it's slower I love a bartender (guy or girl) that takes the time to get to know the customers. Who knows... you might just make a regular out of them.

So before I even moved to this wonderful town Friends invited us out on their boat to island hop around While frolicking about with our cheap, canned, domestic beer We met a new friend who helped our taste buds cheer For he came prepared with a mini keg of his tasty craft brew Complete with enough chilled mugs for our entire crew So we didn't have to continue with our lukewarm swill We enjoyed his honey hefeweizen till we reached our fill The artisan who helped us avert disaster Was none other than Franz, Lagerhaus' brewmaster When we finally moved down and visited Franz as we proclaimed He greeted us with hugs, smiles, even remembering what we're named We've become regulars at this charming place I always leave with a big ol' smile on my face! So, if you are a lover of craft brew, hurry, make haste! You will love all the food and beer that you taste!

I can't speak for the beer because we didn't order any. However, the service and food were awful. Waitress brought us water instead of the Coke we ordered. She didn't know what was in the quesadilla. She even audibly belched as she handed out our food! As for the food, the quesadilla was bland, the Philly was okay and the fries were awful. Paid extra to get garlic fries... However I didn't expect regular frozen fries with a pile of raw garlic on top to be them! If they want to be a brew house so be it, then don't serve food. First and last time for us.
